It has been just over two months since the end of the 25th Anniversary Eagle Rodeo. Our 25th Anniversary came with some big changes to the Eagle Rodeo. First and foremost, the retirement of our President, Tracy Baggerly. Tracy has been the President of the Eagle Rodeo since he started the rodeo. 25 years ago, the rodeo had no bleachers, and just a few people helping run our small ICA (Idaho Cowboy Association) rodeo. Fast forward to today and the Eagle Rodeo is one of the top five biggest rodeos in the state of Idaho and receives recognition as one of the best large rodeos in the Wilderness Circuit of the PRCA. Tracy will continue to be a part of the rodeo as a member of the board of directors. Tracy’s contribution to the rodeo, the community and the sport are immeasurable. He has been a mentor to not only me, but countless others that have been a part of this rodeo.
Moving forward, I am looking forward to the next twenty-five years. The board and I have countless goals including permanent infrastructure, including lighting and power to the entire facility, rezoning the facility to a permanent event center, which will allow us to have more events at our facility, and improving the fan experience every year. Over the coming months and years, we will be looking for more community involvement to help raise funds for our infrastructure goals.
Finally, I need to say thank you. First and most importantly, to the volunteers that make this rodeo happen. When I started with the Eagle Rodeo ten years ago, we had about thirty volunteers. This number has grown to well over one hundred. Second, to the fans and community that have been supporting our rodeo for twenty-five years. We cannot do this without you. Year after year, move after move, you always show up and support the western way of life. You pack the stands, cheer for some of the best contestants in the world and stay for our epic after party. Finally, the contestants; from the day we became a PRCA rodeo we have seen the best of the best come through the gates at the Eagle Rodeo This year we had more than twenty former or current world champions compete for the Eagle Rodeo title.
